ORION Plugins

We can develop plugins for ORION that allow the software to be extended to accommodate custom features not found in ORION core runtime.

A custom plugin for ORION could be anything from an environment that better aligns with the CAD model you are loading in. Think of this as a larger warehouse, or something that is unique to a problem area.

A custom plugin could also be a special feature like being able read in a custom data set into ORION and display it on a CAD model.

Custom plugins are meant to push the software into new and exciting areas, without having to recreate its core capabilities.

No. The scope of distribution for any ORION plugin, is at the discretion of the customer who funded it.

In the future, some plugins will made available on the ORION website.

Please contact the ORION support technician for questions related to ORION custom plugins. Visit our contact page.

Virtual Reality Mode & Headset

ORION can be run in both Desktop and Virtual Reality Mode. Virtual Reality Mode allows ORION to display the virtual environment and CAD models inside of a Virtual Reality Headset.

When in Virtual Reality Mode, users can move about the selected environment, reach out and remove individual parts from their 3D model, explore sub assemblies, play animations, and more.

The HTC VIVE PRO Eye Kit is recommended. In addition to the headset, the kit also provides all required controllers, lighthouses, and cables.

It's also possible for other Open VR headsets to work, if they can connect to SteamVR. But we don't make any promises as we cannot test on every headset available.
