CAD2VR™ is a Sandia developed software solution that aims to make the import and interaction of Computer Aided Design Models (SolidWorks, CREO) into a VR space easy and useful. CAD2VR provides offline and networked configurations, and interaction via desktop or virtual reality headsets. It also features exploded views, animations, individual parts, multiple environments, and even X-Ray Vision. In addition to supporting CAD files from multiple vendors, a major goal of CAD2VR is software extensibility through plugins. Plugins allow CAD2VR core functionality to remain stable and intact, while allowing our software to be tailored to specific use cases.

Software Features

The CAD2VR^™ software facilitates the visualization of existing CAD (computer aided design) models in an immersive virtual environment, and allows interaction with the CAD model in the virtual environment. This includes the ability to view CAD models at a full one-to-one scale, to interact with CAD models such as grabbing individual parts, to make CAD models transparent, and to view animations of CAD models, to name a few.

The software can be used in the engineering design process, for training on a wide variety of topics, and to communicate with customers, to name a few.
